With their debut EP, Richmond, VA-based Third Rail knocks out listeners with three new originals and a not to be missed cover of Gillian Welch's Miss Ohio. Wake Up kicks things off with the earthy sound of the mandolin and continues with a catchy chorus. Best I Can sticks to the simple sounds of acoustics and a melodic bass line that demonstrates Eric Bowers’ standup bass prowess. Highway 41 showcases the multi-instrumental talent of Don Busick who not only sings and plays the mandolin but lays down a vintage harmonica solo. The three part harmonies of Miss Ohio, combined with new to the scene cellist Kevin Rosengren, would make Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings proud. Drummer Tom Vest brings an edgy beat from his overseas rock stardom with Identity Crisis. Boomer Muth, formerly of the legendary Copper Sails, brings his vocal and guitar talents to the Americana world. Third Rail’s debut won’t disappoint as this effortless mix of acoustics and vocal harmonies keep your ears continuously curious and awaiting another great release.
